  • Studying at UOW is bigger than showing up for class each day. It’s joining a community of students at our campuses worldwide and those at our Wollongong campus who are helping to shape the region into the ultimate university destination.
  • From rural Australia to the other side of the world, UOW is filled with people from various backgrounds. About 28 per cent of students are from regional and rural areas. A diverse cohort of international students is also proud to call Wollongong home.
  • Almost 10,000 students commence at our University each year. They’re supported by staff working in teaching, research, and professional services, who play a vital role within the Illawarra, enriching its culture, diversity and economy.
  • UOW is committed to new industries and the jobs of the future. We prepare our students for those jobs, and we help create those jobs through education, research and innovation. Central to this is UOW’s Innovation Campus, an award-winning research and technology precinct located in Wollongong. Already, 15 innovative organisations worldwide have co-located at the site with UOW’s leading research institutes. This campus is also home to the iAccelerate Centre, designed to help foster the next generation of entrepreneurs and grow innovative startup businesses.

    UOW’s other research institutes include the Early Start Research Institute (ESRI), the Smart Infrastructure Research Facility (SMART), the Australian Research Centre (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage, and the newly established Molecular Horizons: Centre for Molecular and Life Sciences.

Facilities – focusing on better health outcomes, early childhood research, sustainability, and scientific advancement, UOW’s Wollongong campus is home to several research facilities that integrate UOW researchers, students and the community to solve local and global challenges.Already home to more than 15 organisations, UOW’s Innovation Campus (iC) is a 33-hectare research and technology precinct located in Wollongong. It encourages innovative organisations worldwide to co-locate with UOW’s leading research institutes in a collaborative campus environment.
  4. A global universityUOW has a strong international focus and reputation, with close to 6000 international students studying across its Australian campuses each year. UOW Dubai has been in operation for more than 20 years. In 2015 UOW became the first-ever overseas-based university to enter Hong Kong when it was selected to take custodianship of the Community College of City University Hong Kong (CCCU) and transform CCCU into an international campus.The University also has three campuses in Greater Sydney (Sydney CBD, Southern Sydney at Loftus and South West Sydney at Liverpool) and at Nowra, Batemans Bay and Bega on the NSW South Coast, and Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands.
